This print, which Besnard dedicated to Auguste Rodin, was originally considerably larger, 76 x 40 cm., showing a standing figure seen from behind on the left. It was cut down some time before the turn of the century. The etching won a prize at the Exposition Universelle in Paris in 1900. [Peter Parshall (ed.), The darker side of light.
