Frantz Jourdain (1847-1935)Intaglio press stamp [not in Lugt]
In the fourth state, the print was published in Arsène Alexandre’s monograph Honoré Daumier, l'homme et l'œuvre (Paris, Librairie Renouard; H. Laurens, Successeur, 1888). Guérard then reworked the plate once more to create the present fifth state by adding the faces of three lawyers in the manner of Daumier and by inscribing it ”état special pour les amis”, dedicating it to his friend, the important Belgian Art Nouveau architect Frantz Jourdain.
